Okihiro is a professor of international and public affairs and the founding director of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University. Professor Okihiro is one the founders of the fields of Asian American and comparative ethnic studies. His expertise in comparative ethnic studies stresses the idea of power and its location and articulations in human society for the dismantling of those hierarchies of race, gender, sexuality, class, and nation.
