After ordination in 1984, he pastored Hope Memorial Lutheran Church in Los Angeles for ten years before becoming a campus pastor at the University Lutheran Chapel at UCLA, which he led for ten years as well. In 2003, he was installed as pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Claremont, California, where he is presently active. He earned his MA and PhD from the Claremont School of Theology.
