He holds a PhD in Congregational Mission and Leadership from Luther Seminary. He was a president of a graduate school in Ethiopia, where he gave training on leadership (Foundation for Academic Excellence Ministry) and was a lecturer at Mekane Yesus Seminary. He is the editor of Journal of Gudina Tumsa Theological Forum, and has recently coedited a book entitled The Life, Works, and Witness of Tsehay Tolessa and Gudina Tumsa, the Ethiopian Bonhoeffer (Fortress, 2017) )
